When digital photography all but eliminated public darkrooms, I reached back into my art education and started working in the cyanotype and Van Dyke Brown processes in order to work both hands-on and experimentally. I work with many materials at once and search to enhance my original images and comment on them through my choices in assemblage. These choices take the images out of the realm of traditional photography. My most recent work has been images I’ve shot using the Lensbaby macro lens system. These images of what I refer to as my “tiny treasures” transport them into an entirely different context when shot close up and juxtaposed with other elements.
